Leah Has a New Teaching Job

June 2012

I started teaching last Monday June 4 and you know what I'm teaching here in my own barrio.I was surprised because I was thinking that I'll be assigned in a very far place but when I got my assignment order in the Division Office last June ( 1 ) it was stated there that I'll teach in my village. I am very, very happy Cheryl and I got also my salary for my 2 months substitution. I felt I was floating I didn't know what to do all I knew was I was extremely happy at that moment.

I'm sending Benjie back to school and also Joven he's taking up automotive ( 1 year vocational course ) that's what he likes.

Leah Mahmot started teaching in June at her new assignment at a school in her own village. She lives in Sinacaban, a small village near Ozamis City on the island of Mindanao, where she cares for her mother. "I am very, very happy Cheryl," Leah wrote in a letter last year. "I felt I was floating. I didn't know what to do, all I knew was I was extremely happy at that moment." With the salary she earns teaching at a government school, instead of a private school, Leah is sending her nephews Benjie and Joven to school. She is able to provide Benjie an allowance for housing, photocopies and fare for traveling home every week after his classes to get rice and wood.

April 2012: I got a teaching job for two months ( February until April ) as a substitute teacher in Cagay-anon Elementary Sch. I have a good news for you I get a teaching job permanent one this coming June at San Isidro Elementary School. I'll be handling combination grades ( 3 and 4 ) so I'll be getting an additional allowance. Sir Edwin Maribojoc the Assistant Superintendent is the one helping me. He is a nice, kind and helpful person. If not because of him definitely I won't get a teaching job in a public school. The school is 14 km. from our house it's in a far barrio and I'll be riding in a motorbike. The fare is Php. 50.00 going there and Php. 40.00 going home. I've just done with all my papers and I submitted it to the division office. I went to Cagayan de Oro twice first last March 19 to get a priority number for my NBI and I then my schedule was last April 11. There are many papers to be complied like medical ( CBC, Chest X-Ray, Urinalysis, Drug Test and NeuroPsychiatrist Test the most expensive one.I'm very happy because at last I get a job in a public school.
